Launch of Buybacks
Two like-minded individuals with a deep-rooted passion for African travel started an online travel business. They assisted clients with planning and organising vehicles for long trips within Southern Africa.
Added Car Hire to Portfolio
Realising the great need in the market, the duo branched out to offer a range of cars for hire in Southern Africa. This provided travellers with reliable transportation options to explore with ease.
Added 4x4s to the Portfolio
It was time to expand yet again! Many travellers to Southern Africa were looking for vehicles that could take on rougher roads, so Andra and Steve delivered by hiring out a range of 4x4s.
Added Campers to the Portfolio
To further help travellers with their Southern Africa road trips, campers were added to the mix. This addition to the vehicle hire options was to accommodate adventurers seeking more flexibility.
Expansion into Budget Safaris & Overland Tours
After realising that they wanted to play a bigger role in the holiday planning process, Steve and Andre decided to dive into selling budget safaris and overland tours with Overlanding Africa.
Launch Of Discover Africa
Andre and Steve launched their own luxury safari travel business. Discover Africa entered the market to assist travellers by organising and booking dream safari vacations.
Introduction of Southern Africa Safaris
Discover Africa increased their offerings by adding more Southern Africa destinations to the list, including Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Introduction of East Africa Safaris
After launching Southern Africa safari tours and amassing a huge customer base, Steve and Andre decided to broaden their horizons by adding East Africa to Discover Africa’s portfolio expanding their supplier partnerships with key lodges in the area.
Introduction of Herdtracker
After launching Southern Africa safari tours and amassing a huge customer base, Steve and Andre decided to broaden their horizons by adding East Africa to Discover Africa’s portfolio expanding their supplier partnerships with key lodges in the area.
First Live Stream of the Great Migration
In partnership with the Kenya Tourism Board, HerdTracker broadcast the world's first live stream of the Great Wildebeest Migration river crossing.
Google Trekker Project
The Google Trekker project saw Discover Africa lead a partnership with Google, South African Tourism, SANParks, and other South African tourism organisations to take 360-degree recordings of all national parks in South Africa.
Herdtracker AI integration
To celebrate 10 years of tracking the Great Migration, HerdTracker received a visual refresh and new features, including an AI-based migration safari prediction tool to predict migration patterns and suggest optimal safari dates.
